We are Here to see the Evil Wizard Kormákur

Posted on September 18, 2016 by fakedtales

Along with Juggernaut, I brought out this game which was a freebie from Jason Morningstar. It’s a hidden identity/bluffing game where you’re all hunting an evil wizard. Only some of you aren’t. You pick a partner to share a scene … Continue reading →

Metal Showcase 11pm

Posted on September 17, 2016 by fakedtales

Another solo Jason Morningstar game. This time it’s a Choose Your Own Adventure/Lone Wolf style book where you’re a deadbeat youth wanting $1,000 real quick. There’s an all-ages metal battle of the bands coming up so you need to recruit … Continue reading →

Juggernaut

Posted on September 15, 2016 by fakedtales

Somehow I got my group playing a Live Action Role-Playing game. Technically it’s a “parlour LARP” where people spend an hour or two in a room, but it still counts. This is a Twilight Zone style game, where on 7 … Continue reading →

The Plant

Posted on September 13, 2016 by fakedtales

The first of my solo game reviews. This is a free game which needs a few index cards and a pen to play. It’s a sad tale, something which I’ve often found with these solo games. It’s also by the … Continue reading →

Posted on September 11, 2016 by fakedtales

Possibly my most popular article? With a clickbaity name like that, how couldn’t it be? This is about the “talking crap with your friends” game recommendation list, along with my criticisms of Cards Against Humanity. It was surprisingly well-received and … Continue reading →

Posted on September 10, 2016 by fakedtales

I adore the Powered by the Apocalypse toolset for story games, I’m also a fan of Gundam and Pacific Rim. This game is one about mech pilots in a BSG/Starship Troopers/Gundam type universe flying through space and having heated drama … Continue reading →

Like Mad Max, Why Not Try Apocalypse World?

Posted on September 8, 2016 by fakedtales

The first of my two attention-seeking titles for articles. This one is about my love of Mad Max Fury Road and how you can replicate that sort of experience with the storytelling game, Apocalypse World. I also wax poetic about … Continue reading →

Posted on September 6, 2016 by fakedtales

I’ve been massively behind on posting things I’ve done to my site. Part of this is the horrors of this year, and part is simply forgetting to do it in amongst the rest of my productivity. The first post will … Continue reading →

Posted on August 7, 2016 by fakedtales

I’ve not posted here in a long time and while I have some ideas for things to write and articles on other sites to link to, I thought it would be best to address my absence first. At some point … Continue reading →

8 Ways to Survive, the overly-specific 2015 edition

Posted on January 5, 2016 by fakedtales

DON’T DIE This is thing number one if you want to survive the year. Breathing is good, some might say essential. Food and water in and out of the right holes. Coffee is pretty good, too. Don’t get run over … Continue reading →
